Cardinia Civic Concert Band

The band was originally formed in the late 1880's as a brass band,

marching under the direction of its Drum Master.

In the 1970's, the band changed its line-up to include woodwind and strings,

under the name of the Pakenham Concert Band.

In 1997, the Cardinia Shire asked that the Pakenham Concert Band

change its name to reflect its involvement under the Shire and today it is now known as;

'The Cardinia Civic Concert Band'

The Concert Band has members of all ages,

ranging from approximately 10 years of age up to 70 years of age.

The Concert Band rehearses from 7.30 - 9.30 pm on a Tuesday night, in Pakenham.

We are always looking for new members, please contact us

if you are interested in joining or would just  simply like to watch a rehersal.

The Concert Band has presented its music in a variety of venues;

agricultural shows, community festivals, street-playouts, Christmas carols,

school performances, private functions and, by its own auspices as a show and

dance band at its own dinner/supper dances.

Some examples include such events as the Pakenham Show, Berwick Show,

Yakkerboo, Longwarry Dance, Kooweerup Potato Festival, Anzac Day,

Australia Day, Opening of the Cardinia (Pakenham) Cultural Centre,

Mornington Races, Beaconsfield/Lang Lang/ Maryknoll/Pakenham

Carols by Candlelight, and lots more !

Each year the Concert Band holds to its annual tradition

of holding a three-day camp in early August which is not only an great chance

to rehearse but to socialise,

with stories and games around the fireplace and a talent show on the last night.

Each year the Cardinia Civic Concert Band holds an annual concert

around the start of September

at the Cardinia Cultural Centre, Lakeside Blvd., Pakenham.

Be sure to watch out for it.

The annual concert has a difference theme each year

e.g. "Around the World" , Night at the Movies"

&  usually consists of two night performances a week apart

and an afternoon performance.
